I was told I will get paid for 26 weeks from California EDD. They don’t pay you for the first week you start collecting your benefits. My question is do you get paid for 26 weeks or 25 weeks after deducting no pay for the first week?

EDD wants 3 months of job search. Will they check each and everyone of them? Because some of them said simply they weren’t hiring

My physician sent in my DE 2501 to SDI Oct 29th. Nov 3rd to Dec 15th I’m scheduled to be off work recovering from my back surgery. Three weeks goes by and I try to contact EDD to find out my status and they say I don’t have a claim filed yet every time I give them my social security number. A day later I get a form in the mail denying my claim, prompting me to go to midtown office to speak with someone directly.
They say sections were incomplete when my doctor sent in the DE 2501. They resolved it by filling in the information while I was there. A week goes by and I get another letter thinking it was my debit card. Nope They have no record of me being employed therefor I received no funds for no work performed in the previous 4 quarters/periods (however far they go back into your employment). I worked for the same employer for the last 8 years. Then…I noticed something….they have the wrong social security number associated with my name and address on the denial letter. This….just after I went there the first time, you’d think they would have noticed that when they brought up my file when trying to fix my DE 2501. All I know is that my DE 2501 form clearly has my correct social security number on the original claim. So……Either they are f**cking with me and don’t want to pay me my benefits or they are severely retarded! I don’t use that word lightly since my occupation is working with adults with developmental and physical disabilities, but my clients are light-years ahead of these clowns that work in the EDD/SDI.

So question. I received a 5 week disqualification letter a months ago regarding an overpayment I received from the last time I received unemployment benefits which was nearly 2 years ago for a screwup on my end for not claiming funds from a temp job i did. I have been making payments on that. This past week I was laid off from my current job due to budget cuts and I had to refile for unemployment. I have already filled out two claim forms and received no money. Is this due to my dequalification? When I log into the edd system it says “please use paper form” which usually means my form wasn’t processed yet. This is only the second time I have been unemployed…so im not sure what to expect.

Are craiglist ads a proof of looking for work if I saved the person’s # who was hiring @ the moment? Thank you

Does EDD check the jobs that I put down on my job search list? Do they call each one?
