Certification received and pending… When will it say PAID?

in Where's my Money!?

I’m new to CA EDD. I created my account earlier this month and have now certified for for 4 weeks (12/17 thru 1/13). How long does it normally take for it to accept me? And when am I getting my BOA card?

I understand January is the worst month for unemployment and their budget is so low they only do customer service 4 hours a day… but should it take this long? I feel like it’ll still be pending by the time I certify for the next 2 weeks.

UPDATE: It’s me the original poster. Today, it finally changed from PENDING to PAID. But does this mean the BOA card should be in the process of being sent as of today? Or should I have already received it?

You should have received your card a long time ago!

What do you mean by “long time”? This is my first time on UI and it only went from pending to paid a few days ago. Do they send out BOA cards if you haven’t even been approved?

Because you gave the date of 12/17…I’m guessing that’s when you opened your claim? If so and you didn’t need a phone interview because you were laid off, you should have received a card within 10 business days. You have certified for 4 weeks already and that is long! You are supposed to either get approved, denied or sent a letter stating you have a phone interview within 15 days of opening a claim. You stated that you are now showing paid…so I’m thinking you are not getting your mail from EDD…no letters? No card?

My last day of work was 12/15/17. I opened my claim on or about 1/3/18. I received some initial mail (that had my name and birthday ridiculously incorrect – like 1/1/11 incorrect) and had to correct them over the phone. Because those were initially incorrect, I couldn’t certify until around 1/8/17. My “pending” went to “paid” on 1/18/17.

The BOA website FAQ says: “The EDD Debit CardSM is mailed to you when you certify for your first week and the payment is authorized by the EDD.” I certified for my first week on 1/3 but my first payment was authorized or said “paid” until a few days ago.

Have you received anything in the mail at all since opening your claim back on 12/17?? An award letter? Anything from EDD?

I opened my claim on 1/3/18 and wasn’t able to certify benefits until 1/8/18 because they messed up my name/birth date. So I’ve been waiting a while, not 6 weeks long.

What time did it change to paid? Also you should have received it already. If you need emergency funds you can call and BOA will western Union it to but there’s a $15 fee that will be taken out

        How do i do that?

        • Dominique

You call 1.866.692.9374 and tell them you didn’t get your card yet, (or if you just need it faster you tell them is for some kind of emergency and you don’t have your card) than just tell them to western Union your money. But it would have to be in PAID status not PENDING

Have you received your BOA card yet? I applied in December and certified three weeks online. Only today did it go from “pending” to paid.” So I’m assuming they’ll be mailing out the card now. Impatiently waiting. Hope we get our cards soon!
