in User Submited, Where's my Money!?
I used web cert on Sunday and usually the money is available by Tuesday. The funds have not been transferred to the BofA account. Are other people experiencing the same?
no payment yet
I’m in California. Experiencing the same. I will note that the last time I spoke with someone @ EDD, inquiring about the best times to call, they mentioned Mondays and Tuesdays being bad because those are the days payments are processed. So I would guess and hope that more people’s money will start showing up after 12pm. I’ve found this stuff to be completely random. My last two deposits showed up Monday evening at about 9. Then last Friday when I certified (After a delay on EDD’s part), the money was there that night.
if u choose Direct Deposit, can u have the $ go into a checking acct. at your other bank? (not BofA)
Yes, call the BofA EDD Debit Card number, tell them to set up a recurring transfer. You will need to provide the ABA number (that’s the 9 digits on the lower left of your checks) and your account number. They will always load your money to the EDD Debit Card first, then it will transfer to your bank automatically.
Same here. Money is not in account yet. It is 10:45am California time. Let us hope money is transferred soon. Holidays usually cause delays but yesterday was not a holiday…
@KC have you received your $?. I wrote the original post and thus far nothing….
@ Sam – Nothing as of yet. Hopefully this evening.
KC, Thanks for your reply. Keeping fingers crossed!
I’ve noticed since August that (unless there is a problem), mine have been showing up late Monday night on the EDD Debit Card and then post to my checking account on Tuesday morning via an ACH Transfer. My guess is that EDD is running “Batch” late at night as shown by the time stamp of the emails I receive from them telling me that an ACH transfer has been requested.
The ACH Credit posts to your checking account after the DDA databases have been updated and that’s early in the morning so it is there when you logon to Online Banking in the morning.
I worked for major financial institutions for 32 years in software engineering before I was laid off in 2011 which is why I understand how their systems work.
Abc, thanks for your input. By the sound of your post, it appears you received your funds already today as usual, correct? KC’s and mine have not posted. Perhaps they run separate batches, one Monday and one Tuesday thus some people get their money either Tuesday or Wednesday. I don’t mind a slight delay, the problem is I start to get paranoid that I may have entered something wrong etc. very annoying. Let us hope all is fine and money is in the account soon. Thanks again.
Just checked. Money is there.
Congrats! Mine is not there yet. Matter of time I suppose…
Yes, I certified via WebCert on Sunday morning and got an email last night at 11:48 pm telling me that the money was being transferred to my checking account. It was there this morning.

Thanks for the detailed response. Sometimes we are critical of the EDD (deservedly so mostly) but when we consider the scope of their work they do well in general. As an engineer you probably would agree it must be challenging to coordinate hundreds of thousands of payments weekly. Cheers!
per the EDD website, it is 1.1 million payments !!! and that’s probably why the phones are overloaded too.
I’m agonizingly puzzled why it’s Wednesday and I still haven’t received anything after having done a Web-Cert at roughly 12AM on Sunday. Barring a holiday, I almost always receive my payment by late Monday evening or Tuesday, so are there people that can shed some light on their past experiences related to this so I can have even a rough idea when to expect funds to be available? I’m unsure if such random delays are “normal”, but if they’ve happened in the past with others, I would appreciate some feedback, complaints, guesses, assurance, insight, or whatever it may be. Not knowing anything and lacking any reason to understand this delay, at the worst week it could happen (of course), is the worst. Good luck to everyone else on receiving their money and thanks for indulging in this more long-winded post.
hmmm? Does WebCert still say “Submitted”? or “Issued”? Do you take a paper copy of your submission so that you can double/triple check your submission? (I always print a copy). Were answers to all the questions “No” the exception of “Yes” to Question #3? Just a few things off the top of my head.
Good luck, yeah things always seem to go wrong when you need it the most.
Good luck with your job search too, employers don’t even bat an eye at us old farts when they can get H1B contractors onshore for 50% of what they paid me, nearshore in South America, and offshore in India.
Yes, it’s still on ‘Submitted’ with a changing date now reading March 21st, but I’m unsure if that means something is wrong. If the funds go through I imagine it’ll just say ‘Issued’ and that’s it. I read elsewhere on this site someone pointing out it doesn’t mean anything. All my answers were correct and routine, so that’s not so much an issue as the fact I’m literally stuck without food or gas today without an explanation or means to do anything about it. Being at the delicate mercy of an enormously inept agency and faceless behemoth bank isn’t making me feel better, but if anyone can please post when and if their funds go through that would be assuring and semi-relieving. Thanks for the replies thus far everyone!
I’m wondering if EDD processes only a certain number of claims each night? Doesn’t make sense though … mainframe computers are very powerful, we processed millions and millions of transactions each night where I used to work before I got laid off.
That happened to me before too, but that was a Holiday where I submitted on a Sunday, then the submission date was changed to Monday, the EDD card was funded Tuesday night, and was in my checking account Wednesday morning.
Hang in there.
Nick, I originally created this thread. I did not receive my funds either although I submitted my web cert on Sunday. I am always very careful and quadruple check my information before submitting. I have a copy of what I submitted and it is absolutely correct. When I check the web cert status it says submitted; however the date has changed to today. In other words I submitted it on 3/19, yesterday the submission date changed to 3/20 and now it says it was submitted on 3/21. I wonder if you also see the same? Perhaps there is some idiotic glitch causing ohr not to be processed. Of course if we try to call the lines are jammed. Very distressing.
I just want to tell people that I don’t use WebCert. It seems to me, that every time I read about someone’s delayed payment, they used Web Cert. I use TeleCert and while it does take longer, I’ve never had (Knock on wood) any problems with submission. I can take 10 or so minutes out of the day to certify. I’m not in any way knocking people who use WebCert but just suggesting people try TeleCert and see if these problems go away. I think WebCert, while a great idea in theory, is just a glitchy problem program. It will glitch up and get fixed but never replaced. I could be wrong though…
Fortunately I speak Spanish so I was able to speak with some rude idiot and found out the “problem”. EDD claims that my former employer is disputing my benefits, so I contacted my formet employer and they said they are not disputing anything at all. Indeed my former employer is willing to speak to EDD to clear this up; of course that is impossible. I have to wait for a scheduled interview set to occur on April 3rd! WTF!? So I am stuck in a situation solely created by the EDD and my benefutss are delayed because some idiot at EDD can’t read. Nick, I would advise you to call and speak to someone. Unfortunately, you may have a similar situation to mine. Good luck and let me know of any updates!
Just for the record, this ended up being what happened to myself, which was both extremely perplexing and frustrating. I had trained/worked with an employer for no more than two small shifts over two days but was specifically let go and told not to come back because of lack of experience for the job (I’m trying my best at anything I can get at this point). Unfortunately, this last very brief employer claimed things that were patently untrue, such as claiming I worked five days and quit on my own volition. It took a lot of self-restraint to keep my feelings and angry shock to myself. As you can guess, it caught up with EDD and it had become a stressful headache up to now.
So not only was I in confused agony wondering why my deposit wasn’t happening after days upon days of nothing, I managed to call an EDD agent one early morning and they informed me of a hold related to a dispute from this employer. Not only had they even notified me by mail yet, but a phone interview would be occurring literally one week from when I called after realizing something had to be wrong. So no money and stuck in broke limbo for over an entire week, not even knowing why had I not called to find out myself. Well, the phone interview came and went, and the issue has been (thankfully) resolved and things should be back on track. Much appreciation for the EDD agent.
I suppose that’s what people get for being honest and doing their best to go out of their way to report any and all income or instances any of us can find even very brief employment. It seems the EDD system is specifically catered to those who cheat, never report any work or income they do receive, while the rest of us who do the right thing are marked and targeted to be cut off for any and all reasons. I know the system is structured to raise flags on what they do come across, but going after people who actually report income and work isn’t constructive, considering the people who do cheat will probably never think of bothering to report anything to keep the EDD deposits freely coming. I’m more than happy to report this had a semi-happy ending, and that I was blessed with some family who did help me out during the week I was flat broke and in stressful anguish, but let it be a lesson to the rest of you guys this is reality, be as honest as you can to deny them an excuse to cut you off, and fight for whatever you get. More importantly, depending on EDD or any agency is not where you want to be, and as hellish as times are now, the only way out is to depend on yourself for better or worse. Good luck to everyone else on their nightmare ride on the EDD system.
this happened to me earlier in the year. it was a bofa glitch last time. sometimes its a computer glitch, especially in the situation that KC describe.
I am in CA and experiencing the same thing. I was supposed to have received a disbursement on 03/27/12 and have still not received it as of 0600 this morning (3 weeks late). However, I did receive a letter (late last week) stating that I have yet another phone interview to determine if I am looking for full-time work. Furthermore, if I do not have the phone interview or need to reschedule, they will delay my payment. Really??? It’s already delayed, it’s the first of the month, there are bills to be paid and I have no reason to believe they will get this straightened out. I am a newbie to this process and am feeling that being a recipient of CA EDD is a full-time job.
@Nick, I feel your pain. It sounds like you went through a rough week, hopefully everything is resolved and you got your money. I agree with much of what you said. I had my interview today and it was so dumb. I had to rehash everything I had already submitted to EDD in my original application. There was nothing new. The punchline is that my former employer is not contesting my claim, wants me to get benefits and is equally as puzzled as me that I had to have thus dumb intwrview. I also find it amusing how testy and smug the EDD employees are in general. They seem to go on power trips because of the inconvenience they can cause to us all. They are right on par with the worst DMV employees.
Its my first time not receiving my deposit from EDD, and i sent out my form back on time. how long should i wait till i should start calling in to edd? it sucks expecting your check and theres bills due just days away
I was searching the web to find out at what time the EDD deposit the money into the EDD debit card. For me, it is usually after 6pm on Monday. It is sad that I read all these stories for us to collect something that we are entitle to. I do not certify online or over the phone,. I have the grueling task to fill out manually on the voucher they send out every 2 weeks.
How many of you are on their 1st extension? do you go to the EDD office to show up every 6 months? Is anyone out there ever been audited?
I am also in Ca. This is the first time it has delay. I was expecting it Tuesday, as always and it is now Monday and no $. The EDD site says it has been issued, but it is not on my card.
does it always say to please allow ten days for processing when you webcert? That seems ridiculous to me since it’s all electronic…just hoping that funds are actually coming THIS week!!! Thanks in advance.
TeleCerted on Sunday morning. No money Monday night. No money Tuesday night. Called early today and got through to a rep at 8:25 A.M. Money hit my BoA account tonight at 9 P.M. Used 5110. My morning post said calling repeatedly was like trying to win a radio station contest. I really believe that calling this morning got me paid tonight.
That your were able to get through was nothing short of a miracle. I submitted last Sunday morning as I have for the past several months, I doubled checked and still no check to my BOA card. It has now been 6 working days almost 7 since submission and two weekend days. Almost ready to certify again and no payment from the last submission. I gave up trying to call, just trying to wait the 10 business days to see if I get payed.
Yes same for me I usually do telecert on Sunday mornings and I normally recieved the deposit by Monday night .. It’s already Tuesday morning this is the first .
