award letter

I was laid off last year and received unemployment benefits. By June 2017 of this year all my benefits were exhausted and because I haven’t found a job yet, I was advised to apply for benefits when my claim expired. My claim expired 12/2/2017 and I applied for a new claim recently. So I received a disqualification letter stating that I would have to worked this year in order to receive benefits. A week later I received an award letter stating the weekly amount and an edd booklet. So I called edd and asked a representative who didn’t really give me an answer as to why I received a disqualification and then an award letter. I just don’t have it in me to sit on the phone for four hours only for a recorded person to tell me to call back later. So can anyone tell me what this means? Am I getting benefits or am I not?

Hello,

I was laid off from my job on November 2nd and applied for unemployment on November 3rd. I received a notice in the mail to sign up for cal jobs – which I did then the next day I got a letter which stated what I had put on my original application and on the next page was my award letter. I know there is a 1 week waiting period but that’s been long gone and I haven’t received any materials to certify for benefits, and when I log online it doesn’t have my most recent claim all I can see is my claim from 2012. When I call the number to try and certify it tells me to sign and mail in the paper form.. but I never received one??? I have tried calling over 30 times, and I’ve also emailed with no luck. Online it asks if I want to “reopen my claim” but I’m afraid to do that and mess up the claim I already have documentation that I opened and got an award letter for.

Anything I can do? Thanks!

So i got fired on the 28th,got an award letter then received a letter for phone interview on the 15th. Haven’t heard anything back yet but i got paid for the second week. A couple days ago it notified me to reopen my claim. I didn’t want to because i didn’t want to mess anything up. Well i reopened my claim yesterday, now is telling me to reopen my claim again. I have no idea what’s going on, i can only assume my claim was approved because i got paid for the week that wasn’t my waiting period. Any advice?

I filed my new claim on week of 01/08/17 to 01/14/17. I was approved. I received my notice of award letter. I also had two weeks work of work search to clerify. I mailed them back the same day I got them on Saturday, 1/21/17, I already have my direct deposit set up from the last claim last year. I was wondering if do you think I will get any money this week?

BTW the website keeps crashing, and tele cert wouldnt let me do it either. Paper is the only way I could do it.

Thank you!

I filed for unemployment in Dec and because of where my base period landed it did not capture the majority of my income I recently made. SO I never filed an online claim form and canceled my claim to refile in Jan to adjust my base. It worked and I ended up receiving an award letter that went from $100 per week from the award in Dec to $400 per week in Jan. I went to file my claim form online today and webcert is telling me I can fill out two weeks of continued claim forms but the problem is webcert is still showing the balance of my initial canceled claim in Dec at $100 per week and not the new claim of $400. Should I still fill out the claim forms on webcert and assume I will be paid the correct amount of $400 and the site will be updated or do I need to wait and call?

I just went to certify online and got a message that I have a personalized job assistance appointment in a few weeks. This is the second time I have had to go to one of these, last time I was unemployed a few years ago. It’s frustrating because both times I have an active resume on Cal Jobs and last time I went I was there for like 2 minutes. Does anyone know why they schedule people who have updated/active resumes on Cal Jobs? I updated it the day I applied for unemployment, I didn’t even wait for the award letter to come in the mail, so I was well within the 28 days or 21 days. Do they just choose people at random?
